SALARY AND BENEFITS

Salary Range: The range of monthly wages is $4,858 to $6,075.

Benefits: We provide a full benefits package, which includes family medical, dentistry, and vision insurance as well as EAP services and employee life insurance, with no requirement that employees pay a monthly subscription. The option to purchase extra life insurance is given to employees. Benefits start to take effect on the first of the month after the date of hire.

Holidays and Paid Time Off: The chosen applicant will be compensated with twelve (12) days of vacation time and twelve (12) days of sick time each year. With more service time comes more vacation time. Each year, there are twenty (20) paid holidays.

Retirement: CalPERS Retirement is available for this position.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

  • The chosen applicant will carry out the following responsibilities to support the institutional and student success:
  • Learning management system or LMS,
  • Together with the faculty, partners build the courses and accompanying exercises, activities, media (audio, video, simulations, etc.), and assessment methods.
  • Helps professors adopt innovative teaching techniques and cutting-edge technologies.
    Works in coordination/collaboration with the Distance Education (DE) Coordinator, Information Regarding the LMS System, see the Instruction Office and Director of Technology (IT).
  • Aids instructors in creating effective and interesting learning experiences. Provides teachers with one-on-one and group consultation services, makes suggestions for improving how academic technology is incorporated into education, and helps faculty create successful online, hybrid, and web-enhanced courses.
  • Consult the institution’s director of distance education (DE) about DE priorities and policies.
  • Belongs to the committee on distance education.
  • Provides technical assistance, diagnoses issues, and helps managers, staff members, and teachers when they run into difficulties using the campus-supported online learning tools.
  • Together with the distance education coordinator, responds to LMS HelpDesk emails.
  • Participates in pertinent meetings and workshops; executes additional program tasks as assigned.

Website:

  • Depending on management priorities, policy directives, and goals, designs, develops, maintains, and adjusts the College’s website(s), portals, and supporting web pages.
  • Websites are organized and maintained as improvements and adjustments are made.
  • Develops strategies and plans for continual website improvement in light of new standards, technologies, and trends in order to provide all stakeholders with a reliable, interesting, informative, interactive, and user-friendly website.
  • Coordinates and collaborates on website updates and revisions with the director of community relations and communication and the director of information technology (IT).
  • Collaborates with stakeholders on publishing, reviewing, and designing training programs.
  • Develops, conducts research, drafts, edits, and designs the layout for new sections and features in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with the right stakeholders to make the most of the website as a tool for student success ongoing recruitment, retention, and success.
  • Together with the director of community relations and communication, maintains templates, image archives, branding standards, and tone to create a unified visual image on the website(s).
  • Fixes bugs and other issues by troubleshooting them.
  • Provides traffic facts and statistics and analyzes them.
  • Participates in pertinent meetings and workshops; executes additional program tasks as assigned.

Accessibility:

  • Provides guidance and instruction to teachers, staff, and managers on how to satisfy accessibility compliance standards for online courses and digital content.
  • Utilizing face-to-face, multimedia, and digital delivery techniques, designs, develops, and hosts effective and cutting-edge faculty and student tutorials, workshops, training sessions, and institutes in conjunction with the adoption and deployment of digital learning tools and academic technologies on campus.
  • Coordinates and collaborates on accessibility issues with the director of community relations and communication, the director of the disability resource center, and the director of information technology (IT).
  • Makes certain that websites and online resources are usable in a range of settings.
  • Examines online, hybrid, and web-enhanced courses for adherence to accessibility laws and rules such Section 508 and WCAG 2.0 Level AA accessibility requirements; makes recommendations for adherence.
  • Participates in pertinent meetings and workshops; executes additional program tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must adhere to the requirements of Human Resources for qualified hiring, which may include, but are not limited to, passing a TB test and a Live Scan background check.
  • Sensitivity to and comprehension of students, staff, and faculty members’ various academic, socioeconomic, cultural, geographical, handicapped, and ethnic backgrounds.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Required Education: Associates Degree
  • Required Experience: One year of schooling can replace up to one year of the needed experience.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in one of the following roles.
  • Designer of learning materials.
  • Development of courses for higher education.
  • Website construction using HTML and CSS.
  • A professional with experience in accessibility.

Or the equivalent Preferred Education: A bachelor’s degree with a concentration in information science, web design, instructional design, or a comparable profession.

Preferred Experience: Three (3) years, preferably at a community college, in at least one of the following positions:

  • Designer of learning materials.
  • Development of courses for higher education.
  • Website construction using HTML and CSS.
  • A professional with experience in accessibility.

Or the equivalent Licenses/Certifications/Other Requirements: The worker can once in a while need to go to different places. The employee must have a current California driver’s license if operating a car.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Requirements for college online courses at the local, state, and federal levels, particularly those pertaining to usability and accessibility
  • Standards for electronic and information technologies under Section 508
  • Higher learning concepts, tactics, assessment techniques, and best practices for instructional design
  • Principles and methods for instructing classes in unconventional formats, such as online, hybrid, accelerated, fast-track, etc
    techniques for evaluating the results of training to guarantee excellent learning opportunities.
  • New technologies in higher education that are relevant to teaching and learning
  • Technical terms used with educational technology
  • Web production principles and technologies, digital audio and video, image handling, motion graphics, graphic design, illustration, presentation preparation, animation, and other web communication tools.
  • Web applications and content management systems are used to create websites.
  • Modern audio and video streaming techniques, file types, and online conferencing software formats
  • Sophisticated HTML/CSS, including responsive and adaptive design, and appropriate authoring tool choices
  • Drupal knowledge is advantageous but not necessary.
  • Experience with Canvas Learning Management is preferred but not necessary.

ABILITY TO:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities as well as the capacity to collaborate successfully with a variety of stakeholders in a varied community.
  • Collaborate fruitfully with a diverse range of professors and employees. Directing difficult undertakings with little monitoring.
  • Communicate effectively and clearly.
  • Create unique content for the website(s).
  • Create effective training materials.
