About the job

Each year, we choose a small group of people to experience the Pearlfisher way of doing things.
We don’t care where you are in the process of becoming a creative professional; what matters most to us is your unbridled talent and contagious attitude. We need to make sure we choose the right candidate with the correct mindset since a placement or internship with us is about getting involved in everything we do. We don’t engage in nepotism, bribery, or blackmail; the only way to get a job with us is to submit an application and samples of your work. Therefore, please put all of your ability, intellect, and imagination into this application; if we like what we see, we’ll get in touch.

Purpose

We believe it is our responsibility as a well-known agency to identify and support emerging talent in our sector. A design internship at Pearlfisher will build on a person’s natural aptitude and ability, allowing them to diversify and expand their skill set through assistance and mentoring, the chance to work on real briefs, and immersion in the studio’s creative environment. The experience will also be priceless for interns from outside the UK in terms of understanding a more universal approach to design.

The role

Within the Design team, you will directly report to our Senior Designers and collaborate with them closely while assisting the larger Design team with a variety of creative mandates. The projects span a range of industries, such as FMCG, luxury, alcohol, pharmaceutical, and sustainability innovations, and include but are not limited to design for identity, packaging, product, digital, print, and surroundings. You will discover how we approach design projects via the many stages leading up to finalization and handover to realisation through this.

You will:

  • You will be required to develop and produce concepts while using your imagination.
  • Set aside time to work on a wide range of projects, which will expose you to various client types, brands, and working styles.
  • Become familiar with all aspects of a large design firm, including interaction with and some input on Strategy and Futures.
  • Acquire the ability to decipher creative briefs.
  • Form an opinion and point of view regarding your own work and the work of others.
  • Share your thoughts in reviews.
  • As needed, provide additional team support throughout the whole project.
  • Start to comprehend how the Realization process brings your thoughts to life.
  • Assist with maintaining the design studio on a daily basis.
  • Take part in and assist with planning for workplace events.

Additionally, you will be responsible for covering concierge tasks during lunch breaks and absences (as needed in collaboration with other intern team members). This will provide you the chance to network with internal and external staff members and gain a better understanding of how a busy agency operates on a daily basis.

Review process

For internships lasting six months or longer, your position will be reviewed formally every three months and informally every two to three weeks. This will provide us and you the chance to check that you are meeting our expectations for the role and that it is evolving properly for you.

Notes

You will have a lot of control over how much active participation and involvement you provide, as well as the timeframe that goes along with it. You will be given greater duties more quickly if you can establish yourself as a competent and proactive person. The list provided above is not all-inclusive, and you may frequently be requested to fulfill extra requests from the team or clients.

Required Skills And Experience

  • Previous job experience in a field related to design;
  • A degree or similar certification in that subject.
  • A creative portfolio of work that is related to our line of work and demonstrates sharp reasoning, original ideas, and unmatched inventiveness.
  • A bonus would be student or other prizes.
